Flossing has been recommended as one of the most efficient ways to keep your teeth safe. Periodontal disease and tooth decay are among the most experienced dental problems. Most people only use a toothbrush because they are unaware of the benefits of flossing. Flossing will get all the food trapped between the teeth preventing the formation of plaque. For you to maintain healthy dental, flossing must be a regular practice. Here are some secrets on how to make flossing efficient.

  • Seek medical guidance from your dentist on how to use dental rinses and water picks.
  • In case you’re flossing for the first time, don’t get alarmed by the spot of blood along the gum line. This is supposed to discontinue with time but in case it doesn’t see your dentist.
  • While flossing, move it through the mouth thoroughly, systematically, carefully and gently.
  • Hold the floss in a C shape tightly around each tooth while flossing between the teeth.
  • Move the floss gently where the teeth meet the gum up and down and against the sides of your teeth.
  • It is advised to brush and floss since the combination is more effective. It makes sure no plaque and fighting gingivitis are left in the mouth.
  • Never reuse your floss; this will deposit more bacteria into your mouth.
  • While removing the floss, pull the floss down for upper teeth and up for lower teeth and then remove the floss swiftly.

  • Don’t floss aggressively or back and forth as it can harm to your gums.

  • Most people forget to floss the back of their last teeth of the up, bottom, right and left the side of their mouth.
  • Flossing should be done on the daily basis most preferably while going to bed.
  • Never forget to unwind and always use a fresh portion of floss after every tooth.
  • It is advised for kids to floss to. However, children should be taught how to floss while learning to use a toothbrush. Additionally, they need supervision while flossing.
